Kiwanis Club of Durango will celebrate the 62nd annual Pancake Day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday in the Exhibit Hall at La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave.

Pancakes, scrambled eggs, ham, maple- and fruit-flavored syrups, green chiles, salsa, coffee, tea, orange juice and milk will be served.

The event is open to all; cost is $10 and children under 12 receive free admission.

Jim Bolen honored by Kiwanis Club of Durango

Congratulations go to Jim Bolen, who was recently named the latest Lusche Fellow of the Kiwanis Club of Durango.

The award is named for Norris Lusche, a former district governor of the Rocky Mountain Region of Kiwanis who went on to become the international president of Kiwanis. (That is a very big deal, as I’ve noted before. The international presidency of service clubs often goes to members from large clubs in major cities, and often to members from other countries, because it’s a responsibility and an honor given to just one of the more than 600,000 members in 80 countries each year.)

The Kiwanis Club of Durango is hosting its 58th annual Pancake Day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the La Plata County Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall.

Tickets are $10; children under 12 are free. Door prizes will be given away throughout the day, and a silent auction will feature items donated from area businesses.
